FAQ

Q. Can I target my donation to a specific project within one of the USCCB-National Collections programs?

You may send your donation to a specific program (e.g. USCCB-Catholic Home Missions, USCCB-Church in Africa), but not to a specific project or grant request within the program (e.g. St. Anthony parish in Uganda). USCCB-National Collections does not have the capacity to differentiate funds between a specific project and the general program fund. Donations made to each program are distributed across many vital and effective projects that are reviewed and approved by the local bishop and the USCCB program subcommittee.

Q. What kind of projects receive funding?

To find out specifics on fund allocations and to get a sample of USCCB-National Collections funded projects, please visit the specific program site from the links below:

Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Catholic Communication Campaign

The Catholic Relief Services Collection

Catholic Home Missions Appeal

Church in Central and Eastern Europe

Church in Latin America

Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa

Q. Who is in charge of allocating the funds from program donations?

In most cases, each program has a USCCB subcommittee of bishops with staff that manages the grant process. The staff of each program analyzes proposals and determines they fall under one of the categories established by the bishops' subcommittee and if the amount requested is appropriate for the completion of the project. The staff then presents recommendations to the bishops' subcommittee which makes final funding decisions.

Q. What do I do if I have trouble while making my donation?

Click the blue chat bubble on the bottom right of your screen and the site staff can assist you. Support is available Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Eastern Time.

Q. Why are there fees associated with making a gift?

The ability and convenience of donating online results in the need for technical and other assistance to USCCB-National Collections. The fees cover technical support, robust and secure giving technology, web-page hosting, organizational management and other behind-the-scenes components that allow USCCB-National Collections to focus on its mission. All donations will be paid to the chosen program, net the platform and ACH and/or credit card transaction fees. ACH fees total 3.4% plus $3.00. Platform and credit card transaction fees total 5.9% plus $0.30. Platform fees break down as follows: 2% goes to GiveGab, the technology partner, and 1.4% goes to #iGiveCatholic for their organizational guidance to USCCB-National Collections. The credit card transaction fee is 2.5% plus $0.30. Donors have the option to cover these fees for USCCB-National Collections at the time of donation and they will receive a tax deduction on the full donation amount.

Q. How do I facilitate a matching gift from my employer?

Follow your company’s process. Just make sure to indicate “USCCB-ProgramName” (e.g. USCCB-Catholic Home Missions, USCCB-Church in Africa) as the recipient of your gift, not iGiveCatholic. If you need additional information, please contact ncpromo@usccb.org
